At Informed K12, we’re on a mission to help school district administrators operate efficiently and gain insight into their most critical school business processes. Still today, most school districts have hundreds of mission-critical processes that run on paper, making visibility and improvement near impossible. We transform paperwork from a daily stumbling block to a strategic tool. This makes it possible to hire the right teachers for the right classrooms faster, manage bus routes for students without permanent housing, ensure teachers get reimbursed and paid on time, and a lot more. In short, we are powering the future of school district operations by helping district administrators drive the systemic change needed to improve productivity, accountability, and equity.

Our founders came out of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education. Informed K12 (formerly Chalk Schools) was one of the first companies funded by Stanford’s StartX accelerator and top education technology incubator Imagine K12, now part of Y Combinator. About the role

Informed K12 is in an exciting stage with our company and ready to scale across the country. We are looking for a People Operations Manager to drive strategies for how we develop, motivate, and retain employees. As we grow in complexity and headcount, you can expect to be solving unique challenges and making decisions that accelerate our business. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside leadership and be hands-on with employees in defining and executing a range of programs and processes.

This role requires organizational skills, project management, the ability to learn quickly, and a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Your ability to enact change will help Informed K12 make the right investments in our team and further our goal of delivering the highest quality of service and support to our partner districts.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage our HR processes for the entirety of the employee lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to performance evaluations and compensation strategies to offboarding
  • Partner with managers to define and document performance metrics, hiring strategies, knowledge management, and ongoing development and training
  • Run critical people processes that help us learn and understand our employees, including upwards feedback and employee feedback
  • Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into all facets of our people operations, including identifying opportunities for employee engagement and refining HR processes to have a DEI lens
  • Own the company’s brand presence strategy across our website and blog posts to directly support recruitment and hiring processes
  • Support managers in defining and providing professional development and growth opportunities with employees
  • Manage benefits strategy and employee data

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years of experience in talent management, HR operations, or a similar function
  • Track record of success in implementing effective people and culture practices at high-performing organizations
  • Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to listen, understand, and connect with employees across all levels and geographies
  • Knowledge of basic HR management, key compliance issues and policies, and systems
  • High sense of personal responsibility and integrity, with self-awareness that allows for continuous learning and growth
  • Strategic thinker that is detail-oriented and knows when to roll up your sleeves to solve a problem or help the team move forward
  • Ability to move projects from start to finish because you are highly organized, prioritize tasks, and communicate when you need help
  • Ability to draw out data-driven insights to drive decision making
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Passion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and access

Preferred qualifications

  • Early-stage startup experience, or experience working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience at a B2B SaaS company, preferably seeing a company through multiple stages of growth
  • Experience with Trinet, Google Apps, Ubiquity, or similar tools
  • Proficiency with data analysis
  • SHRM certification
